- As an OCD therapist, I'm empathetic, challenging, and direct but understanding. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a process that might seem difficult and challenging at first, but the support of your therapist and the effectiveness of ERP will give you motivation to accomplish your therapeutic goals. When I began working as a therapist, I noticed how many people were struggling with intrusive thoughts. Seeing the positive results of ERP made me want to focus on it. I also focus on body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), anxiety, and depression.
